Darkness To light of my Life!

FotorCreated

Watching helplessly as the darkness engulfed,

Shrouding me as though I were to be handcuffed!

Quivering in the bitter cold I looked around,

Tiny sense of hope within me holding me profound!

Eyes fell on that tiny spot of light,

Far beyond my reach to my plight!

Regardless I stumbled and crawled through the dust,

To capture that light for my soul to rest!

With bruises and a hollow soul I finally arrived,

Tired yet thrilled, into the light I dived!

With efforts so hard I stood upright,

Enjoying the spot light with delight!

Letting the light enter my heart and soul,

Relief and happiness beginning to unroll!

Alas, the light decided to take a stroll,

Once again leaving me alone in the dark hole!

Chasing it with all my might I began,

All in vain, I sat defeated without a plan!

Tears rolling down my cheeks so pale,

Leaving my soul to let out the pain!

It struck me like a thunder so swift,

Why not ask my Lord via His gift?

The gift of Salah He guaranteed to relieve,

In my prostrations, relief within my heart began to weave!

As I ended and raised my hands above,

I saw the same light shine above me somehow!

Leaving my worries and fears to The One above,

I smiled and flew in the light bestowed, like a dove!

  1. This is such a perfect virtue of Salaat.
Do you know that Allah prescribed the salaat only after Khadija (R.A.) had passed away?
When the Rasool was upset and grieving over the loss, Allah told him about salaat as way of giving him calm and tranquility among many other benefits 🙂

    1. Yes habeebthi I am so happy to hear that Salah is the beautiful gift and not a punishment as most people see it!! Wow when I heard Umar Sulaiman say this foor the first time.. I was shocked and awestruck… Then I realized no wonder each time my salah is over my heart was granted peace!!! So indeed it was a gift a beautiful gift granted to us for ease!

      1. Why would someone think of it as punishment? It’s mercy. It reminds us of our purpose as we recite Allah’s verses to ourselves everyday. It’s like a 5 time wake up call. 5 times of renewing your intentions and reminding yourself that you have a higher purpose.
It’s one of the best gifts of Allah 🙂

  2. Oh Ishma… this poem is just breathtakingly beautiful. You almost made me cry…

I love the vivid description of pain, of losing, of fearing the unknown. But what I love the most is the hope and the sudden realization that there is someone who’s greater than everyone. And HE is surely just waiting for us.

This is so great, so great. Thank you! 🙂

  4. Is this something real Ishma Imroz? haha I read it already on insta.
But, here I am returning after days once again to let you know how amazing and magnificent this poem actually is.
A lot of times when we want to make perfect rhymes, we often mislead the context of the poem. But, this was a lot different. You do have it. I’m telling you. Mind it. (your style) 😛

  6. I could interpret a lot of metaphorical meaning in this -the struggle in the light of hope, the defeat, then a sign that motivates to start again – faith is something we should all have, in any form that suits them, but it is faith that helps us moves on.. i’m left with a good feeling reading this Ishma..
